Meet Claire Smith of Al!ve Woman
Founder of Al!ve Woman
Before we go any further, let me tell you a little about me….
My children were still babies (aged 6 months and 2 years), when my husband announced he was leaving the family home. Our marriage had been a struggle for a while, and to be honest, at that time my self-esteem and confidence were already through the floor, and here I was, thrown into the role of single parent. Looking back, it was a sad and tough time, struggling to keep both my emotions and my life together.
However, there came a moment when I grew tired of the self-pity and negativity I felt every day, and I remember one day sitting on my hallway floor, crying, when I suddenly stopped and metaphorically stepped over my threshold. That day I made a decision to take some new and better action for myself and my children.
So at first, simply to improve my own self-image, I began reading everything I could lay my hands on to increase my knowledge and self-confidence. Learning much along the way about human behaviour, I began to take a profound interest in the subject of human personal development and had a constant desire to gain further knowledge. I began to focus upon reading self development books, taking courses and attending seminars, searching for ways to change the way I felt about myself and to gain vital insights into what it takes to create feelings of happiness & success…and my confidence and attitude began to change…
I’d given up work when I had the children, and although I had financial support from my ex-husband, it was scary having to rely upon someone else (someone who you were no longer married to) for my financial well-being.
So, once I felt ready, I decided to go back to work in the insurance industry, where I had been employed for 10 years previously. Although I was glad to be bringing in my own income, unfortunately getting up early, and getting myself & my two children ready, driving around to childcare & then taking the commute into London every day, was pretty tiring to say the least!
I remembered who I really am…
Having said that, my confidence was growing all the time, and through self-coaching, I was learning more and more about myself and was starting to develop a new identity. I made new friends and I began to re-connect with my love of the great outdoors. I love adventure and variety in my life; pushing my physical limits and discovering new things.
This realisation, lifted me, and I began to step out and try new experiences like surfing and climbing mountains for fun. For the first time in a long time, I was starting to feel alive!
However, things at work got even more frustrating when the kids started school. I didn’t want anyone else to take my babies to school and I didn’t want to miss out on being involved, so after a while, I decided to look for an alternative option for work – I wanted to have the flexibility to work from home. I wanted to have breakfast with my children in the mornings and drop them to school.
The Next Step….
So, with my new-found drive & confidence, I decided to train for my first business, providing semi-permanent makeup (eyebrow tattoos and the like) from a treatment room at my home…it was a courageous step for me – and having done it, I always say, “If I can tattoo someone’s face, surely I can do anything!”
It took a while, but after about 18 months the business was earning a reasonable profit of around £2000 each month working purely from home, and that extra income allowed me to indulge in my passion for travelling and adventure….from skydiving, to trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, and volunteer work in Kenya…finally, I was understanding what made me happy and I knew who I wanted to be….Lara Croft watch out…here comes Claire Smith!
I must say though, that tattooing people’s faces was not my dream…and I knew it. Although, I enjoyed working with these clients, it was the personal development path that I had started a few years before that really interested me.
Now I was discovering the differences in my own life that had made the difference to how I felt and the results I achieved, I had an incredible urge to help others find their purpose and create lives that they love too.
This is when I knew I wanted to train as a Life Coach and so I trained & qualified as a Life Coach and Certified NLP Practitioner (I trained in Spain directly with the co-creator of NLP, John Grinder). Following this, I created my Coaching Company, Al!ve Woman, focusing upon coaching and mentoring for Confidence, Big Life Goals & Life Purpose. I knew that with my own life journey, I had plenty to offer others to help them discover their own path and a compelling future.
But here’s the thing….
I loved being a coach and my clients loved me and had wonderful things to say about me…but I just couldn’t seem to get enough clients to make my business work! I struggled for a year getting clients haphazardly, just hoping that my Facebook friends would see the light and realise they needed me as their coach, or my business networking would come through…I worked long hours and weekends trying to make it all work…but it just didn’t….
I didn’t know what to do for the best, so honestly I ended up faffing about getting nowhere fast. My biggest fear though was that I would have to give up on my dream of helping people through my coaching programmes, I just couldn’t let go of this big life vision…it felt like my destiny…
I had seen myself in this role for so long and wanted this so badly but it just wasn’t bringing in enough income… I knew I needed to understand how to sell my products properly on the internet (after all, you can have the greatest products and services in the world, but if no-one knows about them, well…. ) but I just didn’t have the time to devote to learning all that technical stuff. I was a complete technophobe…my brain just wanted to switch off when it heard any computer-type techno-babble…I just didn’t know where to start…frankly, it all felt too overwhelming to attempt.
Having said that, I was very aware that all of the very successful business people out there had an incredible on-line presence, great branding and used social media, email marketing, on-line advertising and their websites to create huge fan bases and lots of clients!
I found my answer…
So, the seed of internet marketing had been sewn, and technophobe or not, it must have been on my mind because somehow, one day soon after, I clicked upon an advert for ‘The Six Figure Mentors’ (SFM), and before I knew it, I had signed-up for their ‘free 7-day video series’ focusing upon the benefits of their marketing and mindset training and the possibilities of a new life of freedom and wealth doing what I love….
I was immediately excited by what Stuart Ross & Jay Kubassek, founders of the SFM & Digital Experts Academy (DEA) had to say. I could see how their easy-to-follow online training programmes and the extensive community of experts available to me at the DEA could be just what I needed. Plus, I would learn the way to succeed with internet marketing from two of the most successful leaders in this field, both earning multiple seven figure incomes.
It looked like a golden opportunity to grow my business so that I could share my knowledge and contribute to others in a meaningful way – accessing many more people who I could help. However, my biggest concern when I was considering joining The Six Figure Mentors was…would I be good enough? What if I didn’t have the technical know-how to make it work? I honestly had very little idea about eCommerce, Internet marketing, website creation, you name it – it was all very unfamiliar.
In the end it was probably the hope of a better life and the fear of losing my all-important dream of being a successful Life Coach & Mentor that drove me to get started internet marketing with SFM and let me tell you, I have absolutely no regrets!
Since joining, I am blessed to be surrounded by some of the most incredible people I have ever met. I have been able to take the online skills I’ve learnt and build my own Brands online, providing the platform to launch my passion and share my vision with the world, so that I can extend my reach and provide the greatest value to as many people as possible.
As a busy single Mum, I had to work between school hours and work around the shopping, cleaning and the needs of my kids…if you’re a mum, you’ll know what I mean – it can be a challenge!
As a life coach I am extremely passionate about creating a business that is not only financially successful but fulfilling. Happiness in my work is extremely important to me.
The incredible thing is that I now realise that through learning the skills to allow me to share my business online, I am able to express myself fully and provide the coaching and teaching that I love…without having to go to endless networking meetings – I can talk to different people every day through my videos, blogs and emails – it’s awesome!
I have continued to focus my knowledge around helping people discover their life purpose (and one of my greatest joys in life is coaching people to discover their heart-felt purpose) however, this focus has developed into another love – personal branding…
I realised that helping entrepreneurs create their own unique personal brand is very similar to helping individuals create their life purpose – in fact, sometimes, they can begin as the same thing – a mission for your life!
I therefore began building my second business, Brandplosion, which focuses upon mentoring entrepreneurs and small business owners to create a brand that reflects who they really are, their mission, values and loves…helping them create a company name and tagline that reflects their purpose…their ‘why’… and feels completely ‘right’. I also offer the practical marketing skills to take their brand to the world, teaching effective social media skills & online marketing strategies, each aiming to create engagement and a tribe of loyal (paying) fans!
So what are my credentials?
Well of course, I have qualifications in Life Coaching (Certification from Curly Martin, acclaimed author & trainer), and in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), having trained with the co-creator of NLP, John Grinder.
Since joining the SFM, I have co-presented Weekly Masterminds for the Elite DEA Black Members, empowering them to achieve their full potential…
I mastermind with other top female 6-figure earners at DEA.
I am an appointed Platinum Personal Branding Coach at Digital Experts Academy
I co-founded Come Alive Club, an Empowerment Group for women based in Essex…
I have my Branding and Marketing Business, BRANDPLOSION…
And, of course, Al!ve Woman (you’re here!) – showing woman how to create and live a life they love!
So today, I sit here & feel grateful for the way my life has developed…the ups AND the downs (there have been many), as they have all brought me here, to this place in my life where I now have a deep understanding of who I am PLUS the tools and knowledge to create wealth, doing what I love, so I can live life on my terms, whilst helping others, like you, to do the same.
I very much look forward to serving you to create your own exceptional life.
Much love xxx
Helping you create a life you love!
